STAPLE! 2006

Hey, y’all,
Yes, indeedy, plans for STAPLE! 2006 are underway. As proof, look at this photo from the recent STAPLE! meeting in which some stern and somewhat tired mofos are working to make sure your attendance at STAPLE! 2006 is a grand experience:
/> That’d be Manton, Uncle Staple, and Gary. Note that Uncle Staple is giving some lesser ideas the red pen treatment.

Excellent! This is grand news.
I hear tell there’s a zine show planned for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, FYI, but I don’t think there are any real details yet…

Zine show

If you hear more about it, keep us posted. We’ve tried to hit cons and expos to see what everyone else is doing. Between us I think we’ve hit three or four shows in the past few months.

Well, that [i:574b6f95cf]is[/i:574b6f95cf] something to consider for the next show. I’m not sure it would draw quite the crowd we’re looking for, but if it were revealed mid-show as a kind of surprise . . . hmm . . .

We’re only seeing above the table. I bet there’s a good chance they’re pantless, but I don’t know if that’s a selling point or not.

Hey… that’s the way to go. WhenEVER I’m thinking up some serious stuff… it’s always pantsless…. wait
I feel that I’ve shared too much again… damn! :?

The dress code and secret handshake of the inner sanctum are generally made public, though clearly there’s evidence of specific requirements.

Hi, I’m new around here. I found out about this expo from surfing around random zine sites. You have absolutely no idea how excited it made me to find out that there was one of these things going on in my lovely state. I’ve been searching for months for anything of the sort, but I haven’t found anything. So, I find this place…register up on here…and what do I see…someone talking about talk of show plans for the Dallas/Fort Worth area? I nearly had a heart-attack! I live in Fort Worth and it would completely rock my world if that were to happen.
Anyways, in my excitement, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Becca, I’m a senior in high school this year, and I’ve been writing a zine called Just That Good for four years now. I just recently discovered that there are other people out there who do the same and I fell in love immediately. My mom thinks I’m insane, but it’s her fault I’m a writer, she used to write children’s books that never got published. Even my brother writes tons of poetry. I’m the only one on my mom’s side of the family that’s done a zine or has any plans whatsoever of ever getting published.
Anyways…just dropping by to say hi!

Someone’s talking about doing a show in D/FW? That’d be great. And nice to see another zinester in the area!

Welcome Becca! Always great to see new fresh faces around here. Hope you will make it down to the show. Last time we had a couple different zine distros at the show as well as the Austin Zine Library. AZL has already registered again this year, so you’ll be sure to meet some other folks who share your interest.

Becca,
Howdy and thanks for stopping by. Keep plugging away at your zine, read as much as you can,and consider joining and/or starting a group of writers local to your area.
In the words of Jessie Garza (from the STAPLE! DVD audio samples):
bad do I want to do this? You know you have to ask yourself that question. When you can answer that and say, “Hey, I’m gonna do whatever it takes to get my book out,” then that’s what you need.[/quote:dd78388d4a]

Thanks for the welcome!
I will definately keep up my zine. I love it so much. I’m working on a new issue now. It’s amazing how many people at my school freak out when they see me pasting up a new one.
I plan on dragging my parents down to Austin for the next show, even if I have to miss school (oh darn….not!!).

Haha, I are stupid.
I’d forgotten all about it (haven’t heard anything else). If I hear anything else I’ll try to post it here, though.
How embarrassing…
