map to venue
I get to post the very first message here? That kicks so much ass.
Anyway, just a suggestion. How about linking the show location to a map (like at Mapquest or some such).
Great to see things are moving along!

That video link doesn’t play a video for me, but it does provide a link for Windows Media Player “9 Series” even though I’ve already got 9.something. Don’t know what that’s about but I know I don’t want to download any more Microsoft products if I can help it. Phooey.
Thanks for the map!

map on flyer
There’s also a tiny map on the current flyer. The map indicates which exit to take off I-35 (Riverside, exit 233).
You can download a PDF copy of the flyer from the Staple! homepage.

Maps
The address of the Staple! convention is 700 Dawson Road, Austin, TX 78704. It’s an Elks Lodge.
Google Maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=700%20dawson%20road%20austin%20texas&spn=0.03094482421875%2C0.058454566430114596&gl=us
MapQuest: http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?searchtype=address&country=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=home&address=700+Dawson+Road&city=austin&state=tx&zipcode=
In Austin: 1. Take Riverside to Barton Springs, then follow directions in the “out-of-towners” directions below. 2. Take Lamar to Barton Springs. Turn east onto Barton Springs (that is, towards Congress Ave). Pass under the rail bridge, then turn right (south) onto Dawson.
From highway I-35 (out-of-towners): - Take exit 233, Riverside Drive - Head west on Riverside Drive - Turn/veer left onto Barton Springs Road just past Congress Ave, but before 1st Street. - Pass the big green dome on your right. - Pass Bouldin Ave. - Turn left (south) from Barton Springs Road onto Dawson Road. - Turn right into the Elks Lodge driveway after about 1 – 2 short blocks.
If you drive under the railroad bridge or if you come to Lamar, you’ve gone too far on Barton Springs.

corrections & such
The “big green dome” (Palmer Auditorium) is now a big ol’ blue tenty-covered open parking garage-lookin’ thing. Sorry, I was remembering Austin-that-was.
If you’re coming from the east (I-35, Congress, 1st) and driving along Barton Springs you’ll see a sign on the southwest side of the Dawson / Barton Springs intersection. The sign reads “Park Terrace,” the words appearing in a large yellow arrow pointing to the left. Take this as a “go thataway” arrow to the Elks Lodge. You’ll pass the Park Terrace apartments just before you reach the entrance to the Elks Lodge.
Once you turn onto Dawson, the Elks Lodge is about 0.1 miles down on the right.
There’s an ATM at the “1-Stop” convenience store on the south side of Barton Springs, just east of Dawson. But “just” I mean you might be able to spit from the intersection and hit it. But don’t.
The closest restaurant is Castleberry’s Gourmet Sammiches (yes, Sammiches) on the SE corner of Dawson & Barton Springs. A little farther east is Vinny’s Italian Cafe. More info about restaurants at the show.
