STUDIOBLINKTWICE! A big ole' thread, new images every week!!

Hey, hey, Staple, folks! Thought you might like to check out our stuff! Here’s a few past forum posts to give you an idea of what’s coming up….
Okay, so here we are, the start of the new Studio Blink Twice BIG thread.
We’re a UK/France based comics studio currently producing the titles Malcolm Magic and Tusk, and the on-line web story One Night in the City.
Our big, BIG release will be MOON!, a sci-fi-comedy-action-adventure-romance-spce-opera-epic the likes of which has never been seen before!
Hmm…maybe that’s a good thing!
So here it begins, the Studio numbers 3, with me on art, my brother Bob on words, and our genius Webmaster General Mark on all things web-and-games based.
New art will be going up every 2-3 days…forever!

Okay, so I’m gonna try and keep these postings nice and varied, which I hope will keep it all interesting for you folks! Today we’ve got a little character design I did for the currently-in-production issue 10 of Malcolm Magic. This ole’ girl’s name is MRS. D.
More tomorrow!

Mon Jun 05 06:42:39 CDT 2006

Okay, so we’ve had some One Night in the City, a little Malcolm, I know what you’re thinking: "Show us some MOON!, man!". Well, okay, as you asked so nice…

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:42:55 CDT 2006

Here’s a style experiment for MOON! I did as part of our buddy Gringo’s url=http://www.linoleum-press.com/OnlineComicjam.htmlJAM PAGE/color:eefccbe284. Take part if you want!
And hey, guys, Happy Easter!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:43:16 CDT 2006

Well, it’s Easter Sunday here in the UK, and I hope you’re all having a great time wherever you are. As it’s a holiday for me, I thought I’d post something a bit different and (hopefully!) a bit special. So here’s a pic I did of a Girl. Don’t get the chance to do much stuff like this, as I’m always drawing that rabbit or strange aliens! Hoho! Hope some of you like it!
Happy Holidays!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:43:32 CDT 2006

Okay, so here’s another web flyer for One Night in the City. I think this goes a good way to summing up the style, feel and mood I’m trying to get across with the story. Hope you dig, folks!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:44:19 CDT 2006

Okay, so I thought I’d post a little piece of concept art from MOON! today. We’ve got around 300 pages of environment, character and vehicle sketches already in the can for MOON!, so expect to see more stuff like this reeeeeal soon!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:44:37 CDT 2006

Well, folks, ole’ Lorenzo’s off to Edinborougugh-burg in Sc-c-c-cotland to do a few day’s sketchin’, so as this is the last post for this week, I thought I’d better make it a big one. So here, at a nice size for once, is the cover art for issue 9 of Malcolm Magic, before I cropped it all down and laid on the logo and stuff. Yikes! Ain’t nothin’ as exhilerating as a little Dragon sledging!!
More on Monday next week, friends!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:44:53 CDT 2006

So, we’ve had a bit of Malcolm, time for more MOON! Here’s another web flyer! Hooooo-boy! I’m gettin’ excited!
More tomorrow!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:45:10 CDT 2006

A little more One Night in the City today I think…

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:45:29 CDT 2006

So, the MOON! wheels roll on, and I thought you guys may like to see a few of the smudgey character designs I’ve been sketching out. Today’s is not a primary character, more a broad character feel experiment. Having not had to draw more than a couple of female characters in Malcolm during the entire run so far, it’s looking like MOON!’s gonna be awash with "da ladies", as my man Strongbad might say. So, I’d better get scribbling!
Back on Friday, with something of an exciting exclusive!!! Yeah!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:46:00 CDT 2006

So, it’s Friday, and as such I’m feeling more than a little excited about a nice long weekend. However, a bank holiday here in the UK means I won’t be posting on Monday. Fear not though, friends, as I’ll instead be treating you all to TWO postings today! Here’s the first, a page from Malcolm Magic issue 9. What? No words?! I hear you guys, and don’t worry, you’ll be getting a nice slab of my brother’s "unique" dialogue with a 4-page MM09 sequence reeeeeal soon! Hoho! Stay tuned, folks, and try to figure out how the guys are gonna get out of this one! No, the dragon CAN’T fly, well, not during this scene anyway (he’s got a cold)!
All the best!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:46:18 CDT 2006

Okey-dokey! So, as promised, here’s the last post of the week from me. A poster we did for the Bristol comics expo (held in two weeks time) here in bear old Bristol. We’re good friends with Mike Allwood, the organisor of said show, and his boundless, amazing enthusiasm and energy for this show make it our favorite of the season each year. Anyone fancying coming to check out the show need just follow the link url=www.comicexpo.netHERE/color:5e18cea588 and check out all the great stuff going on. And hey, if you come along, be sure to pop by the Blink Twice stand and say hey, chat about comics, or just check out our stuff!
So why does that bear look so ANGRY…?
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:47:03 CDT 2006

Okay, so this week there’s gonna be an exciting mixed bag of nuts coming at you guys, with brand spanking new images every day (as usual!). So sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy the madness!
First up, some more MOON! environmental concept stuff, today in the form of a curious little floating plantation. As ever, there’s tons of writing about these strange worlds and their eco-systems by my Brother, Bob, the series creator/writer/all-seeing-eye, but all that will be revealed in the pages of the comic. For now, just check out the scribbles!
More tomorrow, fellow monkeys!
Lorenzo!

More from our on-line webstrory One Night in the City today, folkses…

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:48:27 CDT 2006

So, the wheels roll on, and Malcolm Magic issue 10 is coming on nicely! Here’s a little selection of panals from the pencilling stages, hope you likey!
And, hey, guys, our webmaster general Mark Clements over at url=http://www.kennel17.co.uk/index.htmKENNEL 17/color:ba76767b14 has just updated the Studio Blink Twice site in a BIG way! Go URL=www.studioblinktwice.comHERE/color:ba76767b14 to check it out! You the man, Marky! Okay, so on with the pics then…

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:48:52 CDT 2006

Well, it’s already Friday here in the UK, and as I sit and watch the sun rise at my window here in the West Wing of Blink Towers, the smell of fresh bakery is wafting up to me, which can only mean one thing; ole Skitty Peebles is here with the fresh bread and cakes delivery for the big ball this weekend. Right! I’m off to nab a couple of Charlie Choc’s Famous Twisted Muffins, before Chef puts them away in the larder!
In the meantime, here’s another slice o’ MOON!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:49:14 CDT 2006

So Monday’s here, and it’s a short one, forum-wise for us this week, as I’ll only be posting today and tomorrow, and then I’m off into con prep mode, so all internet-based comms have to cease (I’d never get ANYTHING done!). So, first up, here’s a little page from the black and white storyline in Malcolm Magic issue 9. Reggy, Chester and Fikov have been found guilty of detroying half the ‘Dale when they crashed through the interdimentional wall from Fuzzton and have been sentanced to work as a touring comedy troupe. Yep. It’s THAT kind of comic! Hoho! Let’s see how they get on it their big performance at Pratfall’s Theatre Bowl…...

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:49:34 CDT 2006

So, this is my last post until next Tuesday due to prep for THE CON, and to make up for this unforgivable lack of The Blink in your lives, we wanted to give you something a bit special to keep you going through the long, lonely nights. It was an organisational nightmare get every body’s agents to agree, and the seating plan changed some 132 times to avoid people fighting/eating the person sitting next to them, but on Sunday we got the whole gang down to the studio and got the shot we were after. So here it is guys…The Class of 2006, the entire Malcolm Magic cast from the first 10 issues, enyoy…
Oh, and that big green and brown guy was a NIGHTMARE! He’d only drink “Special Weserve” Nodsuf Mount BOOM bottled water, and was endlessly complaining about legroom. sigh there really is no pleasing some monsters…

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:49:52 CDT 2006

So, I’m all settled back from the Big Bristol Con, and boy did we have a good time!!! Lots of very exciting new developments in and around the Blink camp, but not alot I can talk about here yet!! So, in the meantime, thanks to all the folks who came along, particularly those who check out our stuff on the forums and made it down for the weekend, very, very cool! I’ll let you all know when the con pics are up, but in the meantime, here’s some more MOON! fun!
Oh, and it’s another short week this week (I know, I know, part timer, right?) so tomorrow I’ll have a special treat for you folks as I’m off to the Blink chalet in Morzine, France for the weekend! Wheee!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:50:12 CDT 2006

Well, here we are, then, the end of another short week for Lorenzo, so here, in place of my absence, is a mighty FOUR-PAGE post, depicting some of the adventure from issue 9 of Malcolm! Enjoy folks, see you Tuesday when I get back…!
Lorenzo!

Between these two pages another scene takes place, hence the pickup line "Revenge, rasper?" which links nicely from the cut scene, but doesn’t make alot of sense here!

So, I just got back from an AWESOME time out in Morzine, chilling with my bro, the man behind the creation and writing of all our stories, Robin, or Bob, or whatever you wanna call him. ANYWAYS, we were up in a beautiful chalet a thousand or so feet up, and I must say, all that fresh air’s envigorated me no end, so expect an even greater output from the Blink in the coming months! Yeah! Thanks, Bo-bo!
In fact, let’s start right now, here’s another smudgey-smudgey MOON! character design I produced as part of a sketch battle I was invited to participate in by the boy genius URL=http://www.kerongrant.net/newsKERON GRANT/color:2bc670615c a while back. More tomorrow, folks!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:50:58 CDT 2006

Wait though, it’s THURSDAY! I never post on Thursdays!!! Ah well, I guess I just can’t keep away from this place, huh? Hoho! Okay folks, so, as ever, I try to visually mix it up in this thread, so here, for those pencil lovers out there, is the the final pencils for a little shot of the Gullivan’s resplendant abode in Malcolm Magic issue 10!
More tomorrow, guys!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:51:54 CDT 2006

At last! Friday! Sweet, sweet, friday! It’s a bank holiday here in the UK, which means you won’t be seeing ole’Lorenzo back here until Tuesday! Yikes! Hopefully this little slice of web-flyer MOON! fun will keep youse going until then!
Have a great one, folks, see you in three!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:52:15 CDT 2006

Okay, guys, so I’ve got such a lot of stuff backed up to show you guys I think I’m gonna have to post twice today! So here it is, another suitably vague and intriguing pic from the world of MOON! Hoho! Hope you dig, pals!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:52:39 CDT 2006

Now, I hope everyone had a super-coolio weekend! Time for a forray into Malcolm Magic agiain this morning I think! Here’s a little web-only layup utilising panels and dialogue from the recently released issue 10.

So, here it is, another shamefully short week for your old pal Lorenzo! Sorry guys! I’m gonna be scampering off to Norfolk for four days to hang in the almighty new Blink Mansion, so I’d better be off! While I’m away, I hope you enjoy checking out this little slice o’ MOON! concept work! Cho-choooo!
See you back in here first thing Monday, guys!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 05 06:53:21 CDT 2006

Wed Jun 07 00:26:55 CDT 2006

So here we are with another web-flyer I did for MOON! a while back. Hey, that IS a big one….!

Gary
Fri Jun 09 00:08:24 CDT 2006

Lorenzo,
Very nice work.
Would you consider posting a tutorial or "making of" video, article, or the like regarding the color work?

Lorenzo
Fri Jun 09 01:19:07 CDT 2006

Hey Gary! Thank you so much man! I’ve had a few requests for a little colouring tutorial, so there’s one coming up next week! You musta’ read my mind, man! Hope it helps!
Sniff! Sniff! Ah! The sweet, sweet smell of Friday! There ain’t nothin’ like it, folks!! Onwards, onwards! It’s time for a hot-off-the-press new MOON! concept sketch, hope you likey, folks!
Have a great weekend, peoples, oh, and there’s something REAL fun coming on Monday, so be sure to check back in! Hoho!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 12 01:03:37 CDT 2006

GOOOOOOOOD Morning, peoples!
Well, I promised you something different to start your week, so without any further ado, here’s my re-design of Wonder Woman for the Leasean Thomas "Sketch-Off" over at HIS COOL SITEcolor=red:9c9460f93f[/color:9c9460f93f]! Hope you likey guys, here’s the blurb that I scrawled to go with it…
"This little lady is from waaaaay in the future, where a universe-wide peace treaty has left heroes with little to do in the name of "good". Some have faded into obscurity, others have taken Jobs in bars, but this little lady (with an Eastern European makeover, and a natty line in interchangeable robo-pins!) has carved a niche for herself in the movie industry! With a successful franchise of hit movies behind her, it looks like none can stand in the way of the celluloid legend that is..Vunder Vooman!"
Enjoy, folks!
More, as ever, tomorrow!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Tue Jun 13 00:50:08 CDT 2006

Now, following on from a load of PMs and emails to the site asking about colouring, I’ve produced a little tutorial utilising the Vunder Vooman pic to show just how basic my process really is! Hoho! Hope this is of interest to someone out there!
New images tomorrow, folks!

"Oo-arr me’ hearties! Swab the decks you filt’y landlubberrrrs an’ go get me a parrot!"
Why? Well, why not? No, seriously though, this here’s a sketch of what the space pirates may well tool around in in MOON!

Today I think it’s time we take a wander back to that City…

Lorenzo
Fri Jun 16 00:43:04 CDT 2006

Hmmm… an older one this morning, I think, this being the "not quite right" Prattfalls Theatre shot from waaaaaaay back in Malcolm issue 9. Yikes! That’s alotta’ crowd to win over!
Back on Monday with more new stuff, folks!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 19 00:55:57 CDT 2006

Well, I’ve had quite a weekend of it, as ole’ Bobber’s been staying for the past week, and we’ve been doing LOTS of work on Malcs, MOON! and all the rest! Good to see you, Bo-bo! Have a good hol! Anyways, back to the pics, right? Here’s a lil’ environment shot from MM10. Hmm, that Spearpike Point has a GREAT location…good views…easy walking distance to the shops, but MAN, you try getting post delivered! I tell you, it’s a SHOCKING service! One delivery every 73 years, I’m just SO out of touch…
More tomorrow, folks!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Tue Jun 20 00:34:28 CDT 2006

Okay, so one of the most enjoyable things about working on MOON! is that there’s so much creation involved, it’s kinda like having to write your own visual language. Recently I’ve been doing a load of flora and fauna stuff, ready for some of the more tropical planet environments. Here’s one of ‘em!
More on Wednesday, folks!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Wed Jun 21 00:26:35 CDT 2006

Ooh, something else from MOON! today, a little web ad we were asked to put together for another comics site a while back, hope it makes you smile! That honest looking fellow’s name is RATT, and he’s rather important in the story, but more of him later. New stuff on Friday, folkses, see you there!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Fri Jun 23 00:48:39 CDT 2006

Something a bit different today, folks, as we’ve just got a few pics from the Bristol con we did a month or so ago up on the site url=www.studioblinktwice.comHERE/color:c0d07ae1c6. First up, here’s one of my favorite sketches I did from the weekend, this one done for the very cool lil’ lady URL=http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59806&highlight=lefranLefran/color:c0d07ae1c6 who was down for the day with a load of guys from ConceptArt:
/> Then, at the end of the first day, a very talented surfboard shaper called Dale Walker showed up at our stand asking if I’d put some art down on the nose of one of his boards. Thinking it was gonna be a lil’ boogie board or somesuch, I happily agreed, only to see him strolling towards our stand ten minutes later with his own personal, fresh off the bench nine ft longboard! Yoips! Anyways, you know ole’ Lorenzo likes a challenge, so I took a deep breath and went for it…
More on Monday, guys!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jun 26 00:58:34 CDT 2006

Well, I hope everyone’s weekend rocked! It’s Monday morn early here in the UK, and I’ve just got back from a cool weekend of rumbling round the south coast in the ole’ Amazon with my baby, dropping in on a load of old art school pals. Lots of fun, but it’s left me super-keen to back in here and drop another week of posts for you guys! So here we are, I wanna start with a lil’ MOON! flyer we did a while back, if that’s okay with you guys!
More tomorrow, peoples!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Tue Jun 27 00:21:01 CDT 2006

So, it’s time for another chunk of MOON! concept stuff, this one from a little while back, when I was doing some colour sketches using pencils and watercolours…
More on Wednesday!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Wed Jun 28 00:11:39 CDT 2006

Now it’s time for a visit back to ole’ Malcsy, methinks! This was the opening page to issue 10, showing both the colour and B & W storylines running together! Ooh!
More tomorrow, folks!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Thu Jun 29 00:39:09 CDT 2006

Okay, so last one of the week today, folks, as I’m skidding off to Norfolk in the Amazon to the ole’ Blink Mansion for a few days. While I’m away, I hope this fellow keeps you entertained. There are many strange and dangerous creatures in the world of MOON!, but few come close to the mysterious and perilous inhabitants of the LOST SYSTEM…!
Oh, and No, I don’t know what I was thinking when I drew that left arm either! Hoho! Hey, c’mon, guys! It’s a sketch! Woip!
More soon, folkses!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jul 03 00:24:43 CDT 2006

Okay, Monday again! Time for more! No chit-chat from me this morn, just a little more One Night in the City…

Tue Jul 04 00:57:06 CDT 2006

Well, time for another chunk of MOON! concept stuff today I think, this one’s from my vehicular design sheets and is some kind of mobile [i:b2dc8de0be]city[/i:b2dc8de0be], yikes!...
More soon, peoples!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Wed Jul 05 00:26:48 CDT 2006

Ah, sweet Wednesday! It’s been a while since we’ve said hello to that foolish ole’ rabbit, so let’s rectify that, shall we? Here’s a teaser we did prior to the launch of MM10 back in May…ooh!
More VERY soon, folkses!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Fri Jul 07 00:48:13 CDT 2006

Okay, so time fore more of that nutsy MOON! concept stuff, with a fairly recent environmental sketch. My ethos for life is that you never know when you’re gonna get caught with some time on your hands, so always keep some pencils and paper close at hand! With that in mind, I did this a few weeks ago on a moving train between Bristol and London, yikes!
Oh, and remember that surfboard design? Well I’ve got an update on that coming for you reeeeeal soon!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Mon Jul 10 00:46:52 CDT 2006

SKREEEEEEETCH!!! Ah! Here we are, I’ve just put the Amazon away after a weekend at a very coolio Jazz Festival out in the beautiful town of Marlborough, where amusingly in the middle of a que of people heading in to a big marquee I met a Malcolm fan!! How nuts is that? These comics, I tell you, they’re even infiltrating the JAZZ of all things! Whoip!
Anyways, on Friday I promised you guys an update on that surfboard design, and here it is! Not the actual board itself, but a re-working of the image made from the original photo. Hope you guys likey, more on this soon!
Lorenzo!

Lorenzo
Tue Jul 11 00:48:15 CDT 2006

Time now for a little Malcolm, methinks, this page taken from issue 10 in the Black and White world of Happy Hippy Dale…

Lorenzo
Wed Jul 12 00:52:31 CDT 2006

For those of you who regularly check in on this thread, you’ll remember the Vunder Vooman mini-tutorial I posted a few weeks back (have a look through folks, you’ll find it!). Well, I figured that I’d try to do a similar thing whenever I produce an image which has some new or unusual technique involved in it’s production, or which has some interesting stages within the build-up of the pic. As such, here’s a VERY mini break-down of how I went from low-res photo to high-definition photoshop illustration on that ole’ surfboard design…!
Hope this is fun to look through!

Have a grrrreat weekend, folks, I think it’s gonna be a hot one here in dear ole’ England!

Good morning, folkses! Well, by Broski Bob’s back after having been living the snowy life up in a ‘boarding chalet in Morzine for five months, and then living the wind-surfey life in Hungary for a month, but the Blink is finally back together! Alriiiiiight!! So, expect LOTS more nutsy new images as our collective brains pop and fizzle for the next 18 weeks or so with all the MOON! stuff we’re gonna be working on! Good to have you back, brother!
Here’s some Malcolm!

Lorenzo
Tue Jul 18 00:39:31 CDT 2006

Whew! Well, we’re having a Malcolm-heavy week here, huh, folks?! To continue that theme, here’s a selection of panels from MM09. These babies are actually taken from a couple of pages, with another sequence in between the third and the forth panels, which is why they don’t read too smoothly, but I thought I’d put ‘em all together here for you guys to see. Hope you likey!
Oh, and for those of you who are into the MOON! concept illos, there’s a new ‘un coming real soon!
Lorenzo!

Friday! Glorious (sweaty!) Friday! Well, if your city/town/village/hamlet/cardboard box is anything like dear ole’ Bristol, then I should think you’re having rather a hot time of it at the moment! Heat wave?!! I should say so! Here’s a little tip to help you cool off; sit in front of a warm computer monitor, and check out some HOT off the press previews of Malcolm 11! Here’s a pencils-only stage shot of part of the Happy Hippy Dale story…
/> And here’s a little zoom in on that panel showing the nutsy interior of the Museum of oddities…
More soon guys!

Mon Jul 31 01:15:31 CDT 2006

Happy Monday morning, peoples! Well, yesterday was a pretty momentous occasion for the ole’ Blink, as Robin finished the last page of the script for the final issue of the adventure. That’s right, peeps, it’s over, and I gotta say, the ending is a gol’darned BEAUTY!! It’s an amazing achievement for anyone to start writing a comic book, but finishing it is more often than not even harder, and as usual, my Broski’s done it with [i:8e918a93d8]GUSTO[/i:8e918a93d8]! Once again he’s shown me why his are the only stories I’d want to illustrate – they’re just so much FUN! So, those of you getting excited about MOON! will be pleased to hear that Bobber’s attentions are now fully turned on the scripts for the first 6-issue season, and you just [i:8e918a93d8]know[/i:8e918a93d8] we’ll be dishing out some teasers and snippets right here in the Blink thread! Stay tuned!
In the meantime, I gotta get back to scribbling Malcolm 11, so here’s another one of those watercolour concept sketches to keep you going! More tomorrow, folks!

Ah! The start of a new month!! I don’t know much, but I know August’s gonna be a good one here in the ole’ Blink thread! Ooh! What treats we have on the way for y’all! First up, we’ve had a few requests of late to see the pencil versions of the One Night in the City panels, so here are two of my favourites so far, nice and big so you folks can hopefully pick up on the little details…
More real soon!

Two double posts in a row! A few little odd ones, today, as I thought I’d show a couple of uber-mini teasers from some months back we produced, one for Malcolm 9, one as a VERY mini intro to Ratt from MOON!...
Stick around guys, oh, and for those who dig the [i:5a765b0d6d]stranger[/i:5a765b0d6d] side of MOON! concept stuff, I’ll be posting up Clippers, Paws, Tentacles and Paws in a "hands-only" special before the end of the week!
Weird!

Hey folks!! As promised, here’s a few ideas I was throwing around for some of the many different "hands" I’m coming up with for MOON! characters. Whoip!
Stay tuned to this ole’ Blink thread, as coming up in the next seven days we’ll be showing you an UBER-exclusive One Night in the City image, some hotter-than-hot-off-the-press pencil panels from the on-going work on Malcolm Magic 11 (Hush the dragon and Tonka rrrrrumble!), and more fun stuff from the world of MOON!
Ooh!

Tue Aug 08 01:13:52 CDT 2006

So, as promised last week, here’s a little something rare…
It’s approaching CON time here again in the UK, and the Blink Circus will be rolling into the url=http://www.londonexpo.com/index.shtmlb:b566eca253LONDON MCM EXPO/u:b566eca253/color:b566eca253 (it’s a link, folks!) on the weekend of October 28th-29th. We’ll post up loads more info as it gets closer, but right now I’m starting work on the VERY exclusive FREE sketchbook we’ll be producing for the show. We do a new one of these mini (8-12 page) sketchbooks for every con we attend, which are free (with every £10 spent) at the stall. Limited to either 25 or 50 numbered signed editions, there have been two Malcolm SBs, four MOON! SBs and a One Night in the City SB, which was produced for the London Web and Mini Comic Thing we did in March. Obviously, unless you’ve managed to get a hold of one of these rare little gems, you’ll not have seen inside ‘em, so I thought today I’d give you a little peek in the ONITC one, here being a few pages from it.
Note in particular the first panel, which was produced (though not with the final colours) BEFORE last Christmas, and probably won’t feature in the strip until AFTER this Christmas!! And they say I can’t plan ahead…!
Hope you enjoy, folks!

So, here are a few panels from Malcolm Magic issue 11, currently in production. As the plan for MOON! entails us producing most of the first season before launching issue 1, we’re staggering the release of the last two Malcolm issues, and the final trade between now and early 2007. Fear not though, folks, as you can see here, issue 11 is gonna be a DOOZEY..er..I hope!
Note too that this is the first time I’ve drawn Tonka where he looks a bit "Naked". Hoho!
More MOON Watercolour concept stuff in the next few days, peoples!

Never let it be said that I don’t try my best to keep this thread interesting! Following the cool feedback we got about that surfboard thing a while back, I’m gonna try to do show more of the "Away from the comic page" type things I get up to. Let’s start with a T-Shirt! Every now and then I get frustrated by the lack of cool comic-art based T’s and stuff out there in the shops, so I make a few of my own. Here’s the design for one I did a few weeks back…
/> ...and here it is on the T…and finally, (turn away those with weak dispositions!) here’s your ole’ pal Lorenzo doing my best "Twelve Monkeys" demented face (or my "Normal" face, as "friends" would call it)...

Well, the MOON! wheels roll on, and I’ve moved from the free-form style sketch work you’ve seen up until now to more focused designs aimed specifically at characters/environments/vehicles/machines & ships for season 1. Although it’ll take a while for this to filter through to this thread, I thought I’d post up a little head-shot which should give you an idea of the style/finish of the new stuff. Can’t tell you much about this fellah, as he’s yet to be green lit by my bro as a character for the series, but I hope you enjoy checking this out anyways!
Oh, and this is the 99th separate image I’ve posted in this thread, so to celebrate number 100, I’ve got something RATHER special coming for you next! Boy, I ain’t kidding!! Keep checking in guys!!

So, I return!! Well, you know what they say, folks, the best laid plans of mice and monkeys and all that, needless to say, this is my 100th images posting here in the ole’ Blink thread (well, technically 100th and 101st), and as such, I had hoped to bring you guys something rather special to celebrate. Thus, I spent a few late nights putting together a cheeky little m-m-movie style imovie trailer for MOON! I had it all ready this weekend, but, frankly, I’ve not been satisfied with the quality of the web-hosting I had planned for the piece, so have had to put it’s release on hold for now. Sorry! Rather than hold up this thread any longer, I figured you folks would rather I just got on with the daily postings, and I’ll do my best to get this little gem up on line for you asap!
Here, then, (to prove that I DID do it!!!) is my planned link image, and a few screen grabs, hope you likey, and here’s to the next 100!! Cheers!

Okay, so, a little while ago we did an interview on the AWESOME url=www.indiespinnerrack.comINDIE SPINNER RACK/color:08ce8f6295 with the boss-man Charlito. The good news is you can listen to it on-line! Wanna know about the release plans for MOON!? How about the origins of Malcolm? Or maybe you’re more interested in the future of One Night in the City? Listen, if you will, to me and the C man discuss all this and much, MUCH more in this special UK Invasion Blink Twice special! Woot!
The show is url=http://indiespinnerrack.blogspot.com/2006/09/indie-spinner-rack-issue-46.htmlRIGHT HERE/color:08ce8f6295, though you should really listen to as many of the other ‘casts as you can, ‘cos this is truely a great station. Enjoy!

Okay guys, for those of you who think I never do anything sketchy, here’s a shot of the pencils from the last piece, along with some muckety-muck shots of my Thumbnail and rough sketch! Holy smudgy pencils, Batman! Note that there was originally also a forth MOON! buggy in the piece, which I pulled out of the final lay up.

Lorenzo
Thu Sep 14 00:50:04 CDT 2006

Hey Chris! Man, we’d love to, at the moment we’re planning on San Diago, and are gonna see what other shows we can afford to do. It’s a little expensive coming over to you guys to say the least!! We are looking into it, though, and if we can’t make the 2007 show, we’ll be at STAPLE! ‘08 for sure! It’s a very cool looking show, sir!
So, here’s a detail from the Indie Spinner Rack poster. I’m posting this at bigger-than-big size, as I wanted to show the benefits of using pencil lines as opposed to inked lines in the pages of MOON! My inking, having always been a bit shaky, has never blown up very well. That, and the fact that it is essentially pixelated more by the cleaning process than pencils. So, I though I’d show you this detail of the Indie spinner pic, much larger (in terms of screen size) than the original artwork. I think it blows up pretty good! Plus, it may even be big enough that those of you who are inclined to put this stuff up on your bedroom/studio/office/toilet walls can get a good A4 print off it. Or use it as a wallpaper right on your desktop! Lovely!

Fri Sep 15 01:04:41 CDT 2006

Well, here we are then, the weekend calls, and I’m off to see my bro, Bob, and our webmaster general Marky this weekend!! With all the Blink boys together for a few days you just KNOW the ideas are gonna fly, so I’m looking forward to diving into that ole’ Blink melting pot! In the meantime, I wanted to post another pencils panel from MM11. This shot exemplifies just why I consider Bob’s writing to be absolutely perfect! When I read a script that describes a single panel with an 11-stage sequence of Reggy, Chester and Fikov fighting with Sebastian the Bat for Dang’s Whirdly Staff whilst on the back of Kenneth, the other Bat, flying precariously over the rooftops of Happy Hippy Dale, I just think: THIS is what comics are about! Here’s to you bro! You’re a genius, keep this mad stuff coming, there’s nothing I’d rather draw!

Now then, after the confusing nature of Friday’s piece, here’s one that’s a little more straight forward, albeit with some elements of the image missing! Here’s the Gullivans getting a bit of a shock whilst in the middle of a nice little sit-down meal! Meow! Sound effects and some vector-based action lines will eventually go into the final inks to make this pic complete, but for now, I hope you enjoy the pencils!

Okay, folks, so I’ve been meaning to do another lil’ tutorial for a while now, and I’ve actually got several backed up, including one on painting rain, and another on creating complex interior environments, but today we’re gonna start with something a little more basic. For those of you who find this a bit boring I apologise, but we’ve had LOADS of questions to the site about our process for creating a normal B&W page recently, so I thought I’d start with that. Here then, are the first two steps, the next four will go up randomly over the next few days, so be sure to keep checking in.
Hope this is of interest to someone out there!

So, it’s a CON month, which can only mean one thing, lots and lots of new things! First up, here’s the cover to the 5th MOON! Well here we are folks, Monday morn! I promised you something fun for today, and I hope I deliver. We’ve never produced a print or poster of any kind before (because, well, it’s all about the comics, baby!), so when Bob and I decided it was time we did, the task was set upon with [i:a4e09038ef]Gusto[/i:a4e09038ef]! We wanted it to be a MOON! image, but rather than just a standard splash-style pic, I wanted to produce something which would show what the INTERIOR art will be like in MOON! So here it is, available in a strict edition of just 30 A3 high-res prints, all to be sold at the LONDON MCM EXPO on the 28th-29th of this month, the first ever Blink Print…

Ah! Happy Friday! So, here’s one which is so hot off the press you can still smell the pub it was drawn in!! Hoho! Had a lil’ sketch session with a few of the guys from Concept Art who reside here in Bristol (hey J-man! whassup, B!) on Wednesday eve. Did a couple of vehicle designs for the tippity-top secret MOON! project I mentioned a while back, but also knocked out this lil’ bad-boy, and I thought you guys might like to see. I’ve got hundreds of these type MOON! environs backed up, but am finding them a bit of a time drag to digitally clean, so recently moved from sketching in pencil to sketching with a humble biro, and I love it!! The softness of pencil, the cleanliness of ink, it meant this pic required almost no cleaning, just scanned it in straight from the layup page! Clearly the way ahead, methinks…

So, Malcolm Magic issue 11 is coming on nicely, here’s another panel of interior art, dressed up as a little web flyer.
On another note, those of you who like all this nonsense, but would really rather a little [i:205bed2c9b]more[/i:205bed2c9b] of it, will be pleased to hear about the recent launch of Blog Twice: the Blink Blog. This is the place where you’ll find a whole load of other stuff about the comics and studio, lots of exclusive new art going up, and other such gems that won’t be seen here in the Blink thread. Rather than post images up in the random order they go up in here, I’ll also be grouping the art as it updates, and will go into more detail about the production of images than you currently get here. It’s also a team Blog, meaning that you’ll get Bob popping in from time to time to post up news on the scripting and general creation of all our adventures, and Marky will be in there too to let you know of any web-based wonders on the way. Oh, and don’t forget you can get your art in there too: have a read of the "Blink Buddies" posting from Tuesday 17th Oct to find out how! Just click the pic of Kweet, fellow Blinkers!
Of course, you’ll still be able to get almost daily updates right here in the Blink Thread each and every week, so sit tight, and get ready for more fun!

Thu Oct 26 01:06:47 CDT 2006

So, today’s a big day in the church of Blink, as our founding member, mister Robin Etherington (aka broski) has a big ole Birthday!!!! As many of you will know, by bro creates, writes and letters every single one of our adventures, and is the giant BRAIN behind all things Blink. Getting to work with my brother on these insanely fun projects is an absolute dream come true, and is the kind of thing we naively would chat about in tree houses, on our bikes, and in rooms strewn with copies of The Beano and episodes of Charlie’s War as kids. Little did we know back then the world’s a lot more complicated than it seems when you’re seven, and sticking to our guns on producing the kind of comics we really care about has meant a great deal or perseverance and dedication. With Bob at the wheel though, it’s always an absolute delight and sitting down at the drawing board each day here in Blink Towers with a new page of script is always exciting: wondering where he’ll whisk my imagination and my pencils off to this time. So happy B-day, Bo-bo, can’t wait until the Blink Team meets up tomorrow for a weekend of con-based Birthday shenanigans! Cheers!

Ah-haaa! Well, we return!! The London Con was an absolute STORMER, and you’ll be pleased to here the Blink boys had a rather awesome time all round! Wanting to take a bit more time over my sketches than in the past, I only ran off about 30 – 40 over the weekend, and I’ll be posting some each day all this week. Now, let’s see some of those free sketches (excuse poor focus on some of ‘em!)...

Mon Nov 06 01:49:20 CST 2006

Here’s something special to start your week!! As some of you may know, here at The Blink we don’t sell the original pages of art from our comics. Ever. In fact, we don’t undertake commissions or commercial work of any kind (y’know, it’s all about the comics, baby). So, the only way to get your hands on some original Blink comic art is to either get a free sketch at a con, or win an original board in one of our competitions run through the site and in the comics. Well, okay, there is ONE other way, and that’s the annual Blink Art Auction, where just once a year we give you the opportunity to bid on just one piece of Blink art, and this year it’s something fairly special – the original pencils for the cover of Malcolm Magic issue 11!! Yikes! The idea here is that the piece goes to a fan, so the ebay auction starts on Friday with NO reserve, NO starting price and FREE postage to ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! Aren’t we good to you?! Oh, and we’re also gonna throw in a full set of issues 1-12 of the UK-only single issues of Malcolm Magic, soon to be discontinued! Here’s a shot of the piece after a digital clean, the original is a little more smudgy!!
More news on this once it’s up and running guys!

Helloeverybodypeeps! Well, here we are, at the start of another week, lots on the way, and as last week was very much about the colours, this week’s gonna be a lot about the lines, methinks! First up: Marvellous Mister Wonderful…who he?!
/> As a little aside, the url=http://cgi.ebay.com/Malcolm-Magic-Original-Art-Board-Full-Set-Of-Comics_W0QQitemZ190050380148QQihZ009QQcategoryZ972QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemAnnual Blink Auction /color:b1763120d9for just one piece of original art is up! Hey folks! So, next week I’m gonna do a special week-long posting of concept art from the super-secret-special MOON! story we’re working on alongside the prep for the full series. Here’s a shot of a Hover GEEP design for the very same project!
/> On another note entirely, an exceptionally cool book on the history of our favourite artform has just come out called url=http://www.amazon.com/Great-British-Comics-Paul-Gravett/dp/1845131703b:e2fb8af6a6Great British Comics/u:e2fb8af6a6/color:e2fb8af6a6. Frankly, this book is amazing, and is a must for anyone who has a passion for sequential art of any kind, or who just wants to see more of this county’s rich comics history. Most excitingly for us though, is that on page 79 you’ll find dear old Malcolm Magic!! Wowza!! Opened a few bottles of "Monsieur LaPunch’s Celebratory Ale" down in the Blink Lounge Bar about that one, I can tell you!! Cheers! Hic!

Okay, folks, so it’s time for another of them’s old tutorials! Here, for those of you who are interested is a little step by step exploring the thinking behind that MOON! print I posted a while back. Re-reading this, I wonder if it feels a little airy and vague, but what I’m trying to talk about is how you approach the piece with your head, as opposed to just technique. Anyways, here’s the first three steps, the last four will be posted over the next few days, hope it’s of interest/help to someone out there! Cheers!

Hey Folks! Well, I had promised you a themed week of concept art for our Super-Special-uber-Secret MOON! project, but there’s so much other stuff to show you this week that’ll have to wait. First up, it’s CONVENTION TIME again!! Lordy, these things come along as soon as your back’s turned, huh?! url=http://www.thecomicsshow.co.uk/color=red:37d6e092b4The Birmingham International Comics Show/u:37d6e092b4/b:37d6e092b4 will be held on the weekend of the 9th -10th December in the awesome CUSTARD FACTORY in the heart of Birmingham. They’re pretty cool, right? Right. But sometimes they lack that [i:10a1250748]bite[/i:10a1250748] to get you to really do your best. But what about a battle with no prize for the winner, but REAL punishment for the losers?!! Well, a site that’s lost none of it’s teeth is the almighty [b:10a1250748]EATPOO[/b:10a1250748], and their Survivor Battle, has got just that right mix of fear and creativity that gets my scribbling hand drawing.
This really is a [b:10a1250748]Battle to the Death[/b:10a1250748], with nine of us going into the Arena, and only one coming out, all eight losers being [i:10a1250748]completely[/i:10a1250748] and [i:10a1250748]permanently[/i:10a1250748] deleted from the Eatpoo forums! Yikes! That’s the prize; no cash, no rewards, just survival. It’s gonna be quite a show, and I hope you’ll wanna come along and vote for/support your ole’ pal Lorenzo, or at least witness my very public and very conclusive defeat! Never let it be said that I’m too proud to take getting my a$$ kicked publicly!
A little warning, this is a site of fairly hardcore guys, and as such, the easily offended should steer clear, as the language flies around like [b:10a1250748]poop[/b:10a1250748] off a well-oiled [i:10a1250748]shovel[/i:10a1250748]! If, however, you just wanna see a low-down-and-dirty sketch rrrumble to the death, go url=http://www.eatpoo.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=47332color=red:10a1250748HERE/u:10a1250748/size:10a1250748 and cheer along/throw insults at we nine fighters, and on Monday they’ll post a new thread for the final Gladiators to enter and then the voting begins!! Okay, this is the last time I harp on about this. I [i:ed3d816a33]promise[/i:ed3d816a33]. Here’s the facts, folks…!
#1 I’m entered in the Eatpoo Survivor Sketchbattle.
#2 There is no prize of any kind for the winner, just survival. ALL the losing competitors get deleted from the site. PERMANENTLY.
#3 [i:ed3d816a33]Your[/i:ed3d816a33] vote [i:ed3d816a33]will[/i:ed3d816a33] make a difference, but you have to be a registered member of the forum to place it. url=http://www.eatpoo.com/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=register&sid=5302aba4eb0f2772d35b0628d84413e8color=darkblue:ed3d816a33REGISTER HERE/u:ed3d816a33/b:ed3d816a33 (standard comic art forum, takes about ten seconds!)
#4 Once regitered (or if you’re already a member) b:ed3d816a33url=http://www.eatpoo.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=47560GO HERE, AND VOTE!/u:ed3d816a33/color:ed3d816a33 (Lorenzo, hopefully!).
#5 Of course, I don’t expect you to do all this for any old piece of scribbled pap, so I hope you dig what I’ve come up with. If you need further convincing, see below for the pencils, shadows, and a couple of blow-ups of some of the characters. To be honest though, you really need to see b:ed3d816a33url=http://www.eatpoo.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=47560THE MASSIVE, FULL COLOUR VERSION HERE!/u:ed3d816a33/color:ed3d816a33
Okay, voting ends midnight TONIGHT, so I hope you guys will take a few moments out to get involved, we don’t need many votes to swing it, but if a decent number of folks participate we could get a landslide, which would be very cool.
If not, I’ll be starting tomorrow’s post with "well, I sure got MY a$$ kicked!!"
Thanks to all the guys who have already voted – absolutely awesome of ya! Thanks for the support!

Thanks to all the guys who took the time to vote; as expected, I got thoroughly trounced by Sunder! Hoho! I am, however, still just about alive, and my survival has been put to a vote…let’s see what happens..!
While I’m rolling around on the dust of the coliseum floor, you guys may enjoy, from the comfort of your easy chairs and laptops, another piece of MOON! concept art. A sketch here of a corridor aboard the vastness of the MOON! studios, this is a piece from the 6th MOON! SB, we’re gonna have the first (and probably last) ever Malcolm print available! A limited edition of just 20 numbered and signed bad-boys, these utilise my favourite ever Malcsy image from the cover to Book 3, appropriate as we’re waving goodbye to our big-eared chum! Biddily-bong. Here I am!
Well, we just had a really rather awesome time at the Birmingham con, but more of that later…
After 3 years, 300 pages of script, 220 pages of art, tons of covers, specials, sketchbooks and suchlike, it’s time for Malcolm Magic to finally hang up his ears.
Without the dedication, enthusiasm and downright genius of my partner in command and bro Robin, who created this entire adventure from scratch and then penned each issue in a way which a dumba$$ like me could understand ("Malcolm goes on the left of the panel…the LEFT. No, your OTHER left.." etc) none of this would EVER have happened. So thank you bro, for showing me that a little spark can start a VERY large engine. In fact, you better get up here on the Bridge, and bring Marky, ‘cos MOON! ain’t gonna drive itself you know…
HA-ZAA! We did it!

So, the Birmingham show was an absolute blast, as those of you who made it will testify. For a first show in a new city the attendance was great, and the diversity and numbers of exhibitors represented a fantastic cross-section of the UK and Euro indie and mainstream scene. As I was the only "pure" Blink team member there (my older bro Will was stepping into the shoes of Bob and Mark for the weekend) I couldn’t do as much sketching as normal, but here’s a few of my faves from the weekend…
Cheers to everyone who came, and I’ll see y’all in Exeter in the New Year, fellow conners!

So, as we head into 2007 you’ll notice a few changes here in the ole’ Blink Thread. Due to several international MOON! releases we’ve got coming up in the next 6 months or so, there’s alot of stuff in production on the Blink drawing board I can’t show you at the moment. Due to that, there may be a slight lull in the frequency of posts here in the thread, but I’ll do my best to throw at least one or two pieces your way each week. Oh, and of course, work on MOON! season 1 continues too, here’s a concept for one of MOON!’s engine rooms. This design was ultimately discarded as it didn’t really hit any of the marks I had in my head for this environment, but I thought you guys may like to see it anyway.
Cheers, and have a great New Year’s Eve!

So, three newies today, all from different stages of production. First up is an unfinished design I did for a member of the MOON! crew’s quarters. Then there’s a scribbly-scribbly "straight on the page" design for a WALKABOT, along with some preparatory thumbnails, and the script description Robin gave me. As you can see, I veered off topic somewhat, and it ended up looking fairly different to what he had in mind, I think! Hoho! Finally, another bit of plantlife design for a planet in issue 2 of MOON!
Enjoy, folks, more VERY soon!

First up, I’m here to officially announce the FIRST EVER MOON! INTERNATIONAL RELEASE!!!!! That’s right, folks, after harping on about this ole’ title for sooo long, it’s time we put our comic pages where our mouths are…er…or something! For a while now we’ve been wanting to get some MOON! stuff out there ahead of the series launch, and when the kool Kats at hipper-than-hip comic publishers url=www.vipercomics.comVIPER/color:a7771808cf invited us to produce a special MOON! story for their forthcoming [b:a7771808cf]Josh Howard Present’s: Sasquatch[/b:a7771808cf] Anthology, we said "Damn right, Homies!". You’ve already seen a lot of the concept work from it, as I’ve been referring to it as the "super-secret-special MOON! story" for months in this here thread. So what have we put together for you? Well, as it’s gonna be your first taste of the Mooniverse, we wanted it to be something special, so the Blink boys and I have put together a honking-great 15-page full colour exclusive story jam-packed with more goodness than a slab of Auntie Blink’s Highland Toffee! I’ll be posting more news/teasers on this soon, but be sure to head over to url=www.vipercomics.comVIPER/color:a7771808cf for the latest news on the release date. Also, don’t forget it’s just a few weeks until the url=http://www.exeter.gov.uk/animatedexeter/index.aspx?articleid=6207ANIMATED EXETER/color:a7771808cf festival at which we’ll be attending a little one-day comic con, hope to see you guys there. Well, here we are folks, only a few days until I drag the ole’ Blink wagon to the url=http://www.exeter.gov.uk/animatedexeter/index.aspx?articleid=6207Exeter Comics Expo/color:7e67abb499, a little one-day show as part of the Animated Exeter Animation festival. As usual, we’re producing a new MOON! mini sketchbook just for the show, with a limited edition run of just 25, only available on the day, and FREE with every £10 spent at the Blink stand. Well now, I had an AWESOME time at the Exeter Expo this weekend just gone. Thanks to all youse kool kats who came down and spent a chilled Sunday chatting comics, pencils, and MOON! The Blink will certainly be there again next year, so I hope to see all you Exeter kids again then! Cheers!
The coming of the Exeter show commences the early show season here in the UK, with three more cons on the way over the next few months. The first of these is the url=http://ukwebcomixthing.co.uk/UK Web and Mini Comix Thing/color:afd3afad94 on Saturday 17th March. The Blink are strong supporters of this one-dayer for all things Web and Indie, and we were lucky enough to be asked to produce the official Poster/anthology cover for this year’s show. As with last year we have also produced 4-pages of exclusive MOON! Gung-Ho goodness for the anthology itself, where we will be joined by pages from many of the great exhibitors from the show. Below is the official poster, along with some snap-shots of last year’s "rarer than rocking horse poo" anthology, to give you an idea of the kinda’ thing you can expect to see. More on this show soon, as we have a rather exciting special release there for fans of One Night in the City amongst other things…
Coming soon, more teasers from the Viper book, so check back in, folks!!

Ho-key-dokey, so, it’s just over a month until the April release of Viper’s Sasquatch anthology, in which we are debuting the very first internationally available MOON! adventure. I’ll be posting all sorts of goodies from this in the coming weeks leading up to the launch, but for today I just wanted to show you guys a little more of the concept work which went into our story. Hope you enjoy these little slices of environment, machine, kit and character design, and check out the official site url=http://www.thisisnotahoax.com/HERE/color:32e9b5f736 for tasters of all the other contributor’s work, and news on the release date.
Cheers!

Ho-kay, two exciting ones today, the first is to announce that we will be releasing the 8th MOON! Sketchbook at the url=http://ukwebcomixthing.co.uk/UK Web and Mini Comix Thing/color:6fd08d9cd9 in London on Saturday 17th March. As usual, this baby will be a limited edition (50, numbered and signed) ONLY available at the con, and FREE for every £10 spent at the Blink Twice stand of deeelights! LORDY! Stay tuned for an announcement about the VERY special One Night in the City book we’ll also be producing just for the show – news on this in a few days. Hope y’all can make it over to see us! The cover features the first appearance in this thread of MACY, a key MOON! character…
Secondly, and just as exciting, it’s time to announce ANOTHER international MOON! release!! HA-ZAA! With the pages for Sasquatch and Fat Chunk (see earlier posts) wrapped, I’m now onto an eight-page special MOON! mini-adventure entitled "Braindead…and LOVING it!" to go in the url=http://www.indiespinnerrack.comIndie Spinner Rack/color:6fd08d9cd9 anthology. Those of you who regularly check this thread will remember we’ve appeared on this great podcast in the past (listen to it url=http://indiespinnerrack.blogspot.com/2006/09/indie-spinner-rack-issue-46.htmlHERE/color:6fd08d9cd9) and were totally buzzed to be invited to be a part of their first publication. The line-up for this book is PHENOMINAL, so be expecting us to pull out all the Blinky-stops to try and make our contribution as nutsy as we can! For a little change for your eyeballs, I will be presenting all the concept work for this title in a burger-wrapper-stylee, hope you enjoy…

Ho-kay, folkses! So, as promised, I can now announce that at the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing this coming Saturday (17th) we’ll be launching a very special little One Night in the City book. Collecting the first 11 paintings, as well as previously unseen pencil panels and other such goodies, we’re producing just 100 numbered and signed copies of this little bad-boy. The first 30 will be on sale at the Thing, with the rest being sold at the Bristol and London shows in May. I’ll show you one of ‘em in a few days right here in this ole’ thread! Exciting, huh?
Today’s posts continue the theme set out last week of sketch and design work for our story for the Indie Spinner Anthology. Although the anthology is to be all B&W, I’m producing a lot of these designs in colour, since they involve various key characters from the MOON! first season. SOULSTA in particular is very important in the series. Note too, my obvious and unashamed tribute to the great great Hampson in the familiar designs of Pop and Timbr. Expect lots more nods to the awesome Dan Dare in future posts! These are preliminary designs, and have yet to be fully approved by Robin, but still, here they are…
Oh, and finally, I was a little bored waiting for a friend in a bar recently, so I grabbed a napkin, asked the waitress for a biro, and did a little scribbling. rooting through my pockets the other day I found said doodle, and thought I’d scan it in a do a quick colour job in Photoshop, hope you dig!
More in a heartbeat!

So, as we’re getting closer and closer to the April release of the url=www.thisisnotahoax.comSASQUATCH/color:1140e0ab92 book, I wanted to show you another sneakedy-sneak peek at the MOON! tale. Here, then, is a little break down of the four main stages of a single panel in the adventure. More in-depth colour tutorials can be found in sequence in url=http://www.studioblinktwice.deviantart.comThe Blink Twice DeviantArt gallery/color:1140e0ab92.
Secondly, here’s a few snaps I did of the new products we’ll have for the url=http://ukwebcomixthing.co.uk/UK Web and Mini Comix Thing/color:1140e0ab92 in London this Saturday (17th). Alongside our existing back catalogue we’ll be launching the new MOON! Sketchbook and the One Night in the City Year One book (see previous posts), and all Blink purchases will be handed to you in one of our brand new super-fly-and-uber-coolio Blink Twice bags! Twisted rope handles? I should say so! Ha-Zaa!

Hey Chris! I did indeed say hey to Pat from you, and he says "hey" right back! He was telling me that Staple is a very cool con in the style of the the Thing, one day we’re definately gonna get out there to see you guys! Cheers!
Well, what an exceptional time we had in London this Saturday just gone! That Web and Mini Comix Thing just gets better and better, as anyone who was there will testify. The Blink had such a ball, and it was awesome to meet so many great folks, especially so many of you guys from "A-Da’ Web" as my man Strongbad might say. Seriously, thanks to all who stopped by the stand, it was awesome to meet you all, and an even bigger thanks to the several peeps who showed up with sketches they’d done for me before the show, that was sooooo frikkin’ coolio!!!!!!
So, as promised, today’s pic gives you that page from Sasquatch in full colour, more soon…!

So, two today, and they’re both kinda’ biggies!
To start with we have the very first sneak peek at a pencils panel from our forth-coming Indie Spinner Rack anthology MOON! adventure, more from that soon!
Secondly, I’m here to announce that, unbelievable as it may seem, we’re discontinuing the entire series of single issues of Malcolm magic! Gasp! And you thought they’d be around forever?!! HA! If you wanna complete your collection, or just pic up a few copies of issue one to sell on Ebay for a massive profit in twenty years’ time, then be sure to come see us at the big Bristol and London shows in May (more details of them soon). If, however, you can’t make it to the shows, and you live in the UK, then you may wanna head on over to BROOMFELLA’S STORE. But hurry, you’ve only got until the 1st May, then those babies become RARE!!!
Cheers!

Hey folks! Well, I been away for a while, mainly due to web-based problems, time to get back to a more regular fix of Blinky nonsense!

Ho-kay, it’s a vehicular-themed one today, for all you petrol-heads and grease-monkeys out there. Fist up, is a VERY late Easter pic. I actually drew this out for Easter LAST year, but never had a chance to finish colouring it. Regular forum-ers wil
