STAPLE! The Independent Media Expo 2008

Holy crappers and a half! I can’t get over how much fun I had at STAPLE! Considering it was my first convention I have renewed hope in the future of indie comics and in the future of the human race in general.
Here’s our little Ghost Report on the convention including my own list of people who really truly impressed/amazed/made me pee my pants…sometimes even all three.

That’s an awesome, long con report, Colleen. I’m glad somebody liked the "ghost-colored is the new black" comment.

Hey, Colleen, any chance that Chris will make up another batch of those ghosts? I really wanted to buy up a bunch at the end of the day but they disappeared like crazy!

I read Killer Giraffe Smoothie and have declared it to be super cute. Also, I have a pal who’s really into fumetti right now so I know he’s going to love the stuff you guys are doing when I show it to him.

yes…STAPLE! is more fun for me than any other cons…and my teeth are oddly enoug whiter….I was wondering how they got that way… :D

I love the way Colleen writes, she is so very funny. I’m quickly becoming a stalker of her and her friends, but not in a creepy way. Just the way where I steal underwear.

Speaking of ghosts…has anyone seen my little Murray? He ran away at the convention and I’m worried that he’s re-dead.

Yeah we looked all over for Murray and couldn’t find him. Frank, my ghost the little white one who is crying, cried even more about him missing.
Now he’d dehydrated. And dead.

While we didn’t have formal hello’s we most definitely had hellos! But hello again! I’m glad you liked the killer smoothie book. That was part of the "Let’s Learn About!" educational series I’ve been doing for a little over a year. I’m now working on compiling a whole book of them that other cartoonists are illustrating.
Thanks for the compliment on my writing, Dave! I’ve got so many damn stories rattling around in my brain it’s a shame I don’t like to draw.
I think you guys are all right that no other cons are going to live up to STAPLE! I’ve attended a whole bunch of others as a spectator but I doubt I’ll give away nearly as many high fives at MOCCA or SPX….sigh
